The wonderful tour we suggest revolves around the wonderful villages of Orvieto and Civita di Bagnoregio. Duomo of Orvieto is a splendid building erected in the distant 13th century under the pontificate of Pope Urban IV. One is immediately struck by the Gothic facade with its mosaics and bas-reliefs and by the Chapel of the Holy Body. We then delve into the magical atmosphere of the private medieval underground caves.
After visiting this archaeological treasures it will be the turn of the characteristic village of Civita di Bagnoregio.
A wonderful village where time seems to have stopped centuries ago, is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. As soon as you enter the town, you will be enchanted by its timeless appearance, with its medieval structures embraced by the narrow alleys that climb up the hill like a labyrinth. Perched on a hill to reach it, you have to cross a 200-meter long bridge that from the nearest hill leads to the gateway to the historic center.
Now we’ll definitely need a tasty break, so we’ll continue with a lunch in a local Osteria. On the way back to Orvieto we’ll discover Umbrian wines through a visit to a local winery. We’ll learn the methods of wine production followed by a wine tasting.
