BEST TOURS

We do not aim at becoming the largest tour company, only the best. We are focused on QUALITY, whether it's meals, accommodations, or guides. We strongly believe that keeping our groups small means a better experience for all: more personal attention, camiseta chelsea replica less waiting around, being able to get to places that large busses cannot reach, and a reduced impact on the communities and environments visited.

We don't want our guests to feel like tourists when they are traveling with us: Our trips open up a window into the authentic Italian lifestyle, our traditions and our people!

Home cooking classes in Orvieto

We are so fortunate to be able to include Giuseppina in our list of very special people who provide particular services and activities for Umbria in Tour. While coming from a very well established Umbrian family Giuseppina was, in fact, born in Melbourne Australia. Together with her family she moved back to Italy when she was 18. This means that not only does she have perfect English (she is a very highly qualified and respected English language teacher) but also perfect Italian with the great love and passion for Umbrian food and traditions that all Umbrians inherit down through the generations.      One of her greatest challenges and satisfactions is in preparing meals for her large extended family that includes 5 children, as well as cooking for groups of foreigners and visitors. This particular challenge, in satisfying many different tastes, has added to an already extensive repertoire of cooking skills and recipes, more so because she has also had to develop and adapt particular recipes to accommodate a gluten intolerance.

For these reasons the recipes Giuseppina offers in her cooking classes reflect not only the rich heritage of Umbrian cuisine but also the particular passions and satisfactions in providing real food for real people. What an amazing opportunity to prepare and taste all of those great courses that we all fall in love with while travelling this wonderful region and to be able to do so in a warm family environment, even better.

Civita di Bagnoregio2
CIVITA di BAGNOREGIO & BOLSENA
(about 5 hours tour excl. lunch/about 35 mins drive)
Transfer and visit of Bolsena
The lake of Bolsena (known by the local fishermen as “the drinkable lake” for the cleanliness of its waters) is found at the centre of an important cultural and naturalistic crossroad, in one of the most beautiful and characteristic settings, between Lazio, Tuscany and Umbria. The lake of Bolsena boasts a natural environment almost completely uncontaminated and is one of a small number of the “great” Italian lakes where bathing is permitted.
Transfer to the small town of Civita di Bagnoregio. Promenade around the town.
Civita di Bagnoregio is a wondeful and unique example of its kind. Connected to the world only by a long, narrow footbridge, it has been known for a long time now as the “Dying City” - because of the slow collapses of the tufa walls- containing a cluster of medieval houses and a small population of families. Supported sweetly on a top of a hill, the city overhangs and dominates the immense valleybelow, thus offering to the tourist a charming and unforgettable scene

EXTRAS: Tasting lunch in a typical trattoria
The tasting lunch includes: mix of bruschette, pecorino cheese, 2 tastes of fresh pasta, dessert, a glass of wine, water, caffè

Bomarzo orco
BOMARZO
(about 4 hours tour excl. lunch/about 40 mins drive via highway)
Transfer and free visit of this amazing park and pic nic lunch (excluding entrance fee).
The "Sacred Wood of Bomarzo" is also known and re-baptized as Monster's Park. Prince Pier Francesco Orsini, known as Vicino, wanted such a park "only to ease the heart". It was designed and laid out by the great architect, Pirro Ligorio, who was summoned to work at Saint Peter's in Vaticano after the death of Michelangelo. When you visit this park you will go from surprise to surprise as animals and figures in stone suddenly appear…

ITALIAN GARDENS: VILLA FARNESE OF CAPRAROLA
(about 5 hours)
Visit of the beautiful villa and its Renaissance gardens (including entrance ticket).
The villa is one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture. Ornament is used sparingly to achieve proportion and harmony. Thus while the villa dominates the surroundings, its severe design also complements the site. In 1504, Cardinal Alessandro Farnese, the future Pope Paul III, acquired the estate at Caprarola. He had designs made for a fortified castle or rocca by the architects Antonio da Sangallo the Younger and Baldassare Peruzzi. Surviving plan drawings by Peruzzi show a pentagonal arrangement with each face of the pentagon canted inwards towards its center, to permit raking fire upon a would-be scaling force, both from the center and from the projecting bastions that advance from each corner angle of the fortress. The gardens of the villa are as impressive as the building itself.
